Download Legally at Rochester Institute of Technology


RIT students are encouraged to use legal methods for downloading music. RIT is negotiating deals with the following legal sites. Check out the references for other information related to legal downloading.


iTunes

RIT students can take advantage of all the services available at iTunes. This feature rich offering supports the iPod and iPhone, Apple TV, and Macintosh and Windows platforms.

Details:

  • $0.99 per downloaded song.
  • Requires the iTunes client.
  • Requires an active iTunes account.
  • Sync with iPods and iPhone.
  • Available on Macintosh and Windows Platforms

 

Ruckus

RIT offers Ruckus for free, legal downloading of music.
Using your rit.edu email address, an RIT student can sign up for Ruckus for free. Sign up at the Ruckus website: ruckus.com

Details:

  • Music free for students
  • $0.79 - $0.99 to permanently downloaded/burn or purchase song per track.
  • Ruckus to Go $20.00/term
  • Savings for Faculty, Staff and Alumni
  • Ruckus is only available on Windows platforms
  • Requires the Ruckus client
